Audax Records is based in Paris so it is no wonder that we are obsessed with French music. This Autumn we put a special focus on our albums with music from the "héxagone" spanning three centuries.

Our two newest releases feature the first violin concertos by French composers (Aubert, Corrette, Quentin, Exaudet), and Isaac Albéniz's French mélodies. Ensemble Diderot has recorded trio sonatas by Leclair and Mondonville, their Paris Album with trio sonatas by Couperin, Rebel, Clérambault, Campra and Jacquet de la Guerre won numerous prizes, Operalia winner Adriana González' debut album features songs by French couple Robert Dussaut and Hélène Covatti, oboist Christopher Palameta recorded suites by Marin Marais, Johannes Pramsohler with fellow Diderot violinist Roldán Bernabé sonatas for two violins by Guillemain, Guignon, and Mangean, and with Philippe Grisvard French sonatas for obligato harpsichord and violin by Duphly, Marchant, Clément, and Balbastre. There’s plenty for every taste from baroque to the 20th century. Enjoy!

Ensemble Diderot receives Diapason d'Or
The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) has announced the winners for 2021. Ensemble Diderot is among the impressive range of laureates and receives the prestigious prize for their Berlin Album.
I am particularly happy that our jury does not only focus on long-established musicians, but also closely monitors a wide variety of labels, allowing the discovery of outstanding recordings by young artists. For us, only musical quality and integrity are important. Remy Franck, ICMA President

Cities series

A plaudit-garnering series that throws fresh angles on
periods we thought we all knew.  GRAMOPHONE
Ensemble Diderot prides itself on its pioneering exploration of the Baroque trio sonata repertoire, carrying out extensive research in libraries across Europe to unearth and study significant but previously unknown Baroque works. In particular with their award-winning ‘Cities’ series, the four musicians are dedicated to shining new light on the rich music-making of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, providing historical and  musicological insights into how music travelled and developed across major European cities at the time.
The first four albums of the series present important repertoire cornerstones alongside hidden gems from the earliest French and English trio sonatas through to late baroque and gallant music from Germany. A fascinating new cartography of baroque Europe as well as a plea for open borders and artistic exchange.
